KCB Bank Honors Junior Board Members

Kearney, Mo. (May 9, 2017) – The KCB Bank Junior Board of Directors Class of 2017 held its awards ceremony on May 2. This is the 10th year KCB Bank has hosted this award-winning program.

The 2017 graduating class consisted of 12 students from Northland high schools, who took the time to learn about budget management, financial planning and the importance of a good credit score. The participants utilized a computer simulation that allowed them to manage a fictional bank, in which they lent funds, built a portfolio, and budgeted for advertising and staff.

“We’re delighted to be able to offer bright, young students an opportunity to participate in this real-world scenario,” says Dave Hinck, Executive Vice President at KCB Bank. “They get to meet with—and get mentored by—bank officers directly and learn how banking works firsthand. The students gain priceless knowledge that can help them not only understand banking, but also the importance of their own financial health going forward.”

The Class of 2017 KCB Bank Junior Board of Directors included: Reid Alexander, Tristan Bevan, Jonathan Bradfield, Jennifer Cates, Nathaniel Fehr, Chloe Gillespie, Joseph Pluenneke, Emmalyn Pratt, Brooklyn Shumate, Jeremiah Smith, Evan Waddell, and Matthew Waddell.

The winners of the bank management simulation were Jonathan Bradfield, Joseph Pluenneke, Brooklyn Shumate, and Jeremiah Smith, with a total net income of $1,915,000.
