Home builders honored at semiannual competition

The Spring American Dream Parade of Homes – organized by the Home Builders Association of Greater Kansas City – ended Sunday, and the winners have been announced.

The big winner was SAB Homes, which picked up four gold-medal honors in the single-family category. Don Julian Builders and C&M Builders were close behind with three each.

Other gold-medal winners included: BC Residential Homes, Gary Kerns Homebuilders, New Mark Homes, and James Engle Custom Homes.

SAB Homes also tied Summit Homes for the lead in silver awards, as they each took home three. One of SAB’s wins was in the maintenance-provided category, while the other two were in the single-family division. All of Summit’s silvers came in the single-family category. Other silver winners were: James Engle Custom Homes, Dreams & Design Building, and King Building.

All of these gold and silver award-wining homes featured unique design elements and energy-saving products, including vinyl windows manufactured by MI Windows and Doors.

This season, 112 companies participated in the parade of homes, which featured 381 domiciles. Started in 1947, Kansas City’s parade of homes is the second-oldest in the nation. The spring parade of homes involved properties in a seven-county area, with homes ranging in price from $165,000 to $1.6 million.
