McGonigle's Ribs for Kids Charity Event April 28th & 29th

NEWS RELEASE 04-21-17 Contact: Kelsey Huber (913) 649-4040 x102 or Mike McGonigle (816) 694-4720 FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: McGonigle’s Market’s Annual ?Ribs for Kids? Charity Event McGonigle’s Market is holding their 14? th? annual ?Ribs for Kids? Charity Event on April 28? th? & 29?th ?from 8 am-6 pm.? The annual event raises money for Foster Adopt Connect. McGonigle’s Market sells their famous smoked baby back ribs at a reduced price and donates approximately half of the proceeds to FosterAdopt Connect. The event is held in the parking lot of the single location store at the corner of 79th Street and Ward Parkway.

“We hold it every year on the last weekend of April,” Mike McGonigle, owner of McGonigle’s Market said, “to commemorate both the opening of the store on May 5th of 1951 and the start of the barbecue season”. The ribs are hot and ready and if customers can’t eat them that day, but still want to donate to a good cause (and get a deal on delicious barbecued ribs), McGonigle’s also sells tokens for a slab of ribs. Tokens can be redeemed throughout the year. Last year, they raised almost $30,000 for this organization which supports abused and neglected foster and adopted children and the families caring for them. Proceeds from this year’s event will help fund training, support, a food pantry, a clothing closet and more for these wonderful families who foster and adopt these hurting kids. McGonigle's Market is a family owned business and has been serving Kansas City since 1951. The market specializes in fine meats and seafood, but also carries grocery store items including produce, packaged goods, frozen foods, wine and beer. The single location, still found in the original building it was started in over 60 years ago at 79th and Ward Parkway, also serves a barbecue lunch daily. https://www.mcgonigles.com/
