Kathleen Sebelius Presents Lecture in KC on End-of-Life Care
Kathleen Sebelius, former Governor of Kansas and former Secretary of the Department of Health and Human Services, will speak at the Center for Practical Bioethics Annual Dinner on APRIL 5 about the findings of an Aspen Health Strategy Group she co-chaired with another former DHHS Secretary Tommy Thompson on "Improving Care at the End of Life."
The dinner will be held at the Kansas City Marriott Downtown - Muehlebach Tower starting at 5:30 pm.
Sebelius's topic kicks off the 10th anniversary of National Healthcare Decisions Day on April 16. How we die is changing. A hundred years ago, most died relatively quickly due to untreatable or infectious disease. Today, we are much more likely to decline slowly. Yet, only 26% of American adults have an advance care plan for how they would - and would not - want to be treated in a life or death situation.
We need new ideas! Join us on the 5th to find out what policymakers and experts are talking about.
