New History of Dixieland Music program for all ages is March 23 at Roeland Park Community Center
Experience an oral and visual presentation on the history of Dixieland music, performed by a live band, during a late March special event being planned for all ages by the Johnson County Park & Recreation District.
During this program, called The History of Dixieland Music, the entire KC Dixieland Band will interact with the audience. Along the way, many famous tunes of the era, several influential composers of the period, and dominant performers will be highlighted. This promises to be an informative and entertaining experience. All ages are welcome, and light refreshments will be served. Register in advance to save your spot! To find this program in the JCPRD’s Activities catalog and online listings, browse first under 50 Plus and then under fine & performing arts. In the catalog and when using the website’s advanced search, look for the keywords “music education.”
