For Immediate Release Kansas City Community Garden Auctioning off Collectable Whiskey

Kansas City, MO—Kansas City Community Gardens (KCCG), a local nonprofit, is auctioning off one of two hundred rare-released whiskeys by the O.F.C. Distillery, a National Historic Landmark known today as Buffalo Trace Distillery. Kansas City Community Gardens is auctioning the bottle through March 1, 2017 or when the bidding reaches the suggested $10,000 value. The current bid is $4,000. To bid on this bottle of bourbon, please email Courtney Foy at courtney@kccc.org.

The 1982 vintage bourbon comes in a hand-cut crystal bottle. The whiskey is valued at $10,000. KCCC received #35 of 50 of the 1982 Vintage O.F.C. bourbon bottles. Historical events from 1982 are detailed on the back of the bottle and on the commemorative keepsakes.

All proceeds will go to benefit Kansas City Community Gardens, an organization addressing food-insecurity by empowering over 18,000 Kansas City households each year to grow their own fresh fruits and vegetables. This organization has almost 500 garden sites around the Kansas City area. KCCG empowers people to grow produce in their backyards and at community partner sites by offering expert technical assistance, gardening and nutrition education, and affordable materials and tilling service; teaches children about growing and eating healthy food through their Beanstalk Children’s garden and Schoolyard Gardens; and plants orchards as part of their Giving Grove program.

For more information please contact Courtney Foy, the KCCG Development Director, at (913) 213-4337.
