Hanukkah Glow Party set for Dec. 17
There’s nothing more fun than celebrating a holiday together with family, friends, food and frivolity! That’s exactly what’s in store for the community’s first Hanukkah Glow Party Beyachad Chogegim -Together We Celebrate, on Saturday evening, Dec. 17 in the Social Hall of the Jewish Community Campus, 5801 W. 115th St., in Overland Park. (This year, Hanukkah officially begins at sundown on Dec. 24.) From 6:15-8:15 p.m., families are invited to celebrate the Festival of Lights beginning with Havdalah followed by crafts, a DJ with games, a photo booth, glow-in-the-dark fun and more. There will also be a special sensory-friendly area and baby zone. The event is geared toward children 11 and under, but all are welcome. A number of organizations have come together to put on the Hanukkah Glow Party including the Jewish Community Center, Jewish Federation of Greater Kansas City, Hyman Brand Hebrew Academy, The Israeli American Council, the PJ Library and PJ Our Way. “I can’t think of a better way to begin our holiday season than the Hanukkah Glow Party,” said Baree Nottberg, PJ Library Parent Committee co-chair and planning committee member. “I know my kids are going to love dancing with their friends and eating donuts at this fun event,” The Hanukkah Glow Party is just $10 per family that includes entertainment, sufganyiot (Israeli donuts) and a hot chocolate bar. Reservations are requested in advance and can be made online at www.thejkc.org/glow. So practice your dreidel-spinning skills and make your reservations now so you can “glow” this Hanukkah! For more information about the Hanukkah Glow Party, contact Amy Ravis Furey, at Jewish Federation, (913) 981-8801.
