Lafayette County Juneteenth Celebration set June 21 in Higginsville

The Lafayette County Juneteenth Foundation is hosting the 2014 Juneteenth Celebration.  The event will be held on Saturday, June 21, 2014 from 10:00 am to 5:00 pm at the Fairground Park, the Edwin Schwitzky 4-H Building  in Higginsville, MO. Arron Haynes is the chairperson for this event.

This is a free, family-oriented activity.  The theme is  “Pulling Together and Pumping Up For the 2015  – the 150th Anniversary of Juneteenth!”

The event will feature an opening ceremony that includes inspirational speakers, presentation of the annual Spirit of Freedom award, special recognition to the "Friends of the Lafayette County Juneteenth Foundation, gospel music, children's activities, a young adult educational panel featuring the 2014 county college graduates,  the "Juneteenth Cafe" - a fish fry and baked goods  fund raiser, vendors, crafts, educational and historical displays. 

Bring your lawn chairs, blankets, and we'll see you there!
