Marine Corps League to hold Memorial Day ceremony at Mount Moriah
The Simpson-Hoggatt Detachment of the Marine Corps League will hold its 72nd annual Memorial Day ceremony at 1 p.m. on Memorial Day, Monday, May 26, at Mount Moriah Cemetery, 10507 Holmes Rd. in Kansas City, Mo.
Retired Marine Corps Col. Larry S. Schmidt will give the Memorial Day address. The program will also feature the American Legion Band, Ararat Shrine Temple Bag Pipes & Drums and Brookwood Elementary School Choir. The color guard and firing detail will be presented by the U.S. Marine Corps Combat Logistics Regiment in Kansas City.
Placing a wreath on a military grave will be Scott and Candy Wasser, Gold Star parents of Lance Cpl. Christopher Wasser, a Marine who died from injuries in 2004 while serving in Iraq.
