For Immediate Release Date: May 7, 2014

Midas Automotive Service Honored by Department of Defense for Patriotic Support of an Employee Serving in the Kansas Army National Guard Olathe, Kansas – KANSAS Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve (ESGR), a Department of Defense office, announced today that Midas Automotive Service was honored with a “My Boss is a Patriot” award in recognition of extraordinary support of its employee serving in the United States Army Reserve. According to Walt Frederick, Kansas ESGR State Chair, “the Patriot Award was created by ESGR to publicly recognize individuals who provide outstanding patriotic support and cooperation to their employees, who like the citizen warriors before them, have answered their nation’s call to serve. Sergeant Mitchell May, who serves with the 137th Transportation Company in Olathe, Kansas, nominated his supervisors, Chris Andersen and Phil Coble and his District Manager, Chris Jensen, for being highly supportive of the Kansas Army National Guard. Supportive supervisors are critical to maintaining the strength and readiness of the nation’s Guard and Reserve units.” Mitchell May is a fairly new employee at this Midas Store. He was hired after returning from a deployment and has already seen tremendous support by his bosses for military related absences to attend training, drills and schools. Manager Chris Jensen reported that he too served in the Army National Guard a few years back and was treated with appreciation and support by Midas during his years of military service. He stated that now it is his turn to do the same for Sergeant May. All three awardees appreciated Sergeant May for nominating them for the “My Boss is a Patriot” award, and expressed a desire to continue earning more ESGR Awards for their great employee-owned company. (Pictured Left to Right: Phil Coble, Chris Andersen, Sgt. May and Chris Jensen) Kansas ESGR Area Chair, Diane Boeger, presented the awards.
