KC Auto Museum Opening May 9, 2014

The Kansas City Automotive Museum will open its doors to the public on Friday, May 9, 2014. The Grand Opening Celebration is set for Father’s Day, June 15, 2014.

KANSAS CITY AUTOMOTIVE MUSEUM The Kansas City Automotive Museum (KCAM) is a new museum opening its doors to the public in Olathe, Kansas north of 119th and Strang Line. KCAM will feature more than 30 cars and motorcycles in a 12,000 square foot display space. The Museum will also highlight significant Kansas City automotive history such as 1965 Le Mans winner Masten Gregory (the “Kansas City Flash”), the Ford Winchester Plant, Greenlease Cadillac, and many more. Along with the rich automotive history on display, KCAM will also have many interactive spaces like the Fairyland Drive-In and a family-friendly area equipped with four driving simulators. The Kansas City Automotive Museum has won three awards for Events and Public Promotions (through the National Association of Automotive Museums) and one for Best Consumer Experience at the Greater Kansas City International Auto Show; all before having its doors open to the public. More information can be found at www.kansascityautomuseum.com.

IMPACT ON KANSAS CITY Our projections indicate minimum annual KCAM attendance of 75,000. If we estimate 40% of those will be tourists (from outside the Kansas City market) then that represents 30,000 tourists who will be eating out, buying lodging, and making local purchases in the Kansas City market. If the average tourist spends $100 per day and stays in KC for two days, that would be $6 million per year brought into the local economy.
