LOCAL FOURSOME TO PARTICIPATE IN LIBERTY MUTUAL INSURANCE INVITATIONAL NATIONAL FINALS AT PINEHURST RESORT MARCH 26-30
Hall of Famer Curtis Strange to Serve As Honorary Chairman For National Tournament Series That Raised $5.6 Million for Charity in 2013
BOSTON (March 26, 2014) – Kansas City-area residents Kent Therkelsen, Stacey Hord, Donn Raymond, and Franke Tom will be among 240 amateur golfers who will compete in the Liberty Mutual Insurance Invitational National Finals at Pinehurst Resort in Pinehurst, N.C., March 26-30, 2014. The foursome qualified for the national event by winning their local Liberty Mutual Insurance Invitational held on August 19, 2013, at The National Golf Club of Kansas City that supported Lockett-Up Foundation's Read & Achieve.
The Liberty Mutual Invitational National Finals is the culmination of a series of more than 70 charity golf tournaments around the country in 2013 hosted by Liberty Mutual and local and national charitable organizations that raised more than $5.6 million for charity. In addition, a portion of the proceeds from the National Finals will support American Red Cross Moore County and Moore Free Care Clinic.
“This foursome represents 11,000 golfers who generously supported more than 50 charities through our series of amateur golf events, and we look forward to celebrating at Pinehurst their invaluable contributions to their communities,” said Paul Alexander, Liberty Mutual Insurance chief communications officer.
Liberty Mutual also announces two-time U.S. Open Champion and World Golf Hall of Famer Curtis Strange will serve as the program’s honorary chairman for 2014, and will help present the charitable gifts in Pinehurst. “I am proud and honored to support the Liberty Mutual Invitational, a series that has raised $21.7 million for so many great charities in just four years,” said Strange.
