Naismith Hall Announces First Class of Naismith Scholars
Lawrence KS - March 24, 2014 - Naismith Hall, a private residence hall serving the University of Kansas since 1965, is pleased to announce its inaugural class of four Naismith Hall Scholars for Spring 2014. Naismith Hall Scholars are awarded a $1000 scholarship to building residents on the basis of both academic achievement as well as contributions to residential life Naismith Hall and the broader KU Community. The initial winners include:
Dalton Jorns, School of Business, Sophomore, Olathe, KS, Olathe Northwest High School Jake Novicoff, School of Business, Freshman, Overland Park, KS, Blue Valley Southwest High School Austen McGuire, College of Liberal Arts and Sciences, Sophomore, Overland Park, KS Blue Valley West High School Chloe Hosid, School of Architecture, Sophomore, Plano, TX, Plano Senior High
"We are very excited about the great group of residents that form our initial class of Naismith Hall scholars," said Sara Mann, the General Manager of Naismith Hall. "We received many impressive applications for the Naismith Hall Scholar program, but Dalton, Jake, Austen and Chloe stood out as both extraordinary students and wonderful members of our residential community. We are very proud of them."
Two of the winners were from the KU School of Business which is the closest academic building to Naismith Hall.
"On behalf of the School of Business, we are very proud that Dalton Jorns and Jake Novicoff have been chosen as Naismith Hall Scholars," said Dean Neeli Bendapudi, Dean of the KU School of Business. "Not only have they excelled in the classroom, but they have exhibited exemplary commitment to both their residential community as well as the broader KU campus."
