Wildwood Outdoor Education Center Hires New Director of Development and Marketing

LA CYGNE, KS March 12, 2014 – Wildwood Outdoor Education Center announced today that Wendy Pearson has joined the team to continue the development of their expanding portfolio of regional and national supporters. Wendy brings experience in relationship-building and fund-development having served previously as Development Manager for Habitat for Humanity in Topeka, KS. She also served with the AmeriCorps VISTA program and comes with a wealth of knowledge and experience within the industry of non-profit service. Wendy graduated in 2012 from Washburn University in Topeka, KS with a Bachelor of Arts in Biology.

“I look forward to contributing to the fantastic service Wildwood provides for the youth of the Kansas City metro,” Wendy reports. “My two passions are non-profit development and biology so this opportunity allows me to exercise both. I understand the importance of hands-on nature and teambuilding experiences for at-risk youth in the community and I look forward to educating funders and the community at large about our programs. I am very honored and proud to work as part of the team for Wildwood Outdoor Education Center.”

About Wildwood Outdoor Education Center Wildwood offers opportunities to build confidence, develop essential life and interpersonal skills, and increase hands-on academic knowledge in a safe environment. In 1980, Bob Allen, Marjorie Powell Allen and Mr. & Mrs. George Powell donated the beautiful 150-acre facility that is now Wildwood. The mission is to serve youth from Kansas City's urban core. Wildwood programs and facilities are unique in the area and are utilized by schools, businesses and families throughout the region
