Little nonprofit makes a big difference.

Della Lamb Charter School

Today Surplus Exchange donated 3 laptops to Della Lamb Charter School. The laptops were presented to Mr. Jacob Nichols, Technology Instructor at the school. The laptops will be given to the three highest scoring students in Mr. Lamb’s class.

Overland Trail Middle School

This afternoon Surplus Exchange will donate three desktop computers to students in need at the Overland Trail Middle School. Debra Shapiro, Resource Room Teacher, contacted Surplus Exchange about 3 students in need of help. Surplus Exchange technicians built 3 computers for the students. The Overland Trail Middle School is located at 6201 W 133rd St, Shawnee Mission, KS 66209 and is a part of the Blue Valley School District.

This is not the first time Surplus Exchange has worked to aid students in the Blue Valley School District. Two years ago Surplus Exchange worked with Commerce Bank to raise nearly $10,000 for the districts educational fund.

Helping the community is nothing new for Surplus Exchange. Last month the Kansas City based nonprofit gave 5 computers to YouthBuild Kansas City, Kansas. YouthBuild helps dropouts earn GEDs and finds internships for them. Surplus Exchange also hosts YouthBuild interns.

In coming weeks Surplus Exchange will aid MaranathaED set up operations in the historic 18th & Vine District. MaranathaED will aid dropouts in earning GEDs. The organization will offer ACT prep and math tutoring in the 18th & Vine District. MaranathaED hopes to help bring economic growth to the historic 18th & Vine District. Duane A Joseph is president of the organization.

Surplus Exchange is a nonprofit Certified E-steward electronic recycler located in the West Bottoms of Kansas City, Missouri. Surplus Exchange has been serving Kansas City for 30 years. The organization offers recycling, used computers and office furniture.
