Art Event to benefit KC Christian and Hope Leadership Academy

(PRAIRIE VILLAGE, KS) More than 30 artists will be exhibiting and selling original works of art April 25-26, 2014, at the 3rd annual celebration of “The Art Event at KCC”: Kansas City’s Premier Christian Festival of the Arts, at Kansas City Christian School, 4801 W. 79th Street, in Prairie Village.

Community members have the opportunity to experience both local and national talent at this unique show. A portion of proceeds will benefit Kansas City Christian School and Hope Leadership Academy. Local and regional artists have donated small original works to be auctioned off at the Opening Night Party, Friday, April 25th. Proceeds from the auction will go to Hope Leadership Academy. HLA is a neighborhood charter school that serves students in one of the most disadvantaged and violent neighborhoods in Kansas City. Several years ago, the Kansas City, Missouri School District closed almost half of its schools and left no elementary school open in HLA’s zip code. Art created by students from both KCC and HLA will be on display for purchase with proceeds benefitting both schools.

The Art Event at KCC begins on Friday, April 25, at 6:00 pm with the “Opening Night Party” featuring the Fountain City Sax Quartet, cuisine by Brio, coffee concoctions from Espresso-ah-la-cart, and “sweet somethings” by emerging pastry artist, Andrew Moore. Admission is $20 per person in advance or $25 at the door.

On Saturday, admission is free all day from 10am-5pm. A Kids Creation Station will be sponsored by heART Matters of Olathe, Kansas where kids can create their very own mini-masterpiece. Face Painting, Caricatures and food vendors will be present on Saturday as well.
