2013 Kappa Homes Tour Raises $109,000
2013 KAPPA HOMES TOUR RAISES $109,000 Two Kansas City charities to benefit
KANSAS CITY, Mo. (Feb. 20, 2014) – The 2013 Kappa Homes Tour, in its 62nd-consecutive year supporting the community, raised more than $109,000 for its beneficiaries.
Presented by the Greater Kansas City Alumnae Association of Kappa Kappa Gamma, this holiday tradition offers supporters the opportunity to tour four exceptional homes festively decorated by local floral designers. Ticketholders and the public are also invited to visit the Gift & Gourmet Shop during the Tour to browse and purchase holiday gifts, jewelry, home goods and homemade treats.
Held Wednesday, Dec. 4 through Friday, Dec. 6, 2013, last year’s Tour included an additional day (previous Tours were two days long) with the goal of expanding its impact on the Kansas City community. Despite single-digit temperatures during the Tour, the extra day – and including a Friday – proved to be worthwhile.
“Raising more than $100,000 in charitable proceeds represents a Tour record and a more than 40 percent increase over last year,” said Christina Erwin, Tour Co-Chair. “We are pleased and honored to be able to increase our support for three worthy organizations chosen as this year’s beneficiaries.”
Proceeds from the 2013 tour will benefit two local charitable organizations – the Children’s Center for the Visually Impaired (CCVI) and the Metropolitan Organization to Counter Sexual Assault (MOCSA) – as well as the Kappa Kappa Gamma Foundation, which provides college scholarships to members in need.
About CCVI: The mission of the Children's Center for the Visually Impaired is to prepare young children who are blind and visually impaired, including those with multiple disabilities, to function at their highest potential in the sighted world.
About MOCSA: MOCSA was incorporated in 1975 and is a registered 501(c)3. MOCSA’s mission is to improve the lives of those impacted by sexual abuse and assault and to prevent sexual violence in our community.
About the Kappa Kappa Gamma Foundation: The Kappa Kappa Gamma Foundation’s mission is to enhance the lives of Kappa women, and therefore their communities, by providing funds for educational programs, scholarships, financial aid, and the preservation of Kappa heritage within the context of women’s history.
