Ten Thousand Villages, a fair trade retailer, offers home decor, jewelry and gifts handcrafted by artisans around the world. Our mission is to create opportunities for these artisans in developing countries to earn income by bringing their products and stories to our markets through long-term, fair trading relationships.
Store Manager, Paul Stagner said: “ From the beginnings of Ten Thousand Villages in 1946 to the present, the majority of our artisan cooperatives have been organized by women for women. In places where women have few, if any, economic opportunities, these artisans have been able to support themselves and their families by producing beautiful handcrafts, developing their creativity and learning the skills needed to manage a business. We join others around the world by observing March 8 as International Women’s Day, a day set aside for over a century to honor women in the workplace.”
