Free Family-to-Family Class Begins Feb. 4, 2014 in Independence

NAMI of Greater Kansas City is beginning a FREE education and support group for families of individuals with mental illness. This class begins Feb. 6, 2014 and meets for 12 consecutive weeks from 6:30 pm to 9:00 pm at Buckner Restoration Branch, 2607 N. Twyman Rd, independence, Mo. 64058. (This location is a mile north of Ft. Osage High School, located at 24 Hwy. and Twyman Road.) This class aids families experiencing conditions such as ADHD, Bipolar Disorder, and Schizophrenia to understand the mental illness, the diagnosis, and how to take care of yourself as well as your loved one. The instructors are trained family members who have lived this expeerience. They can provide knowledge and skills that family members need to cope more effectively. The class is appropriate for parents, siblings, other family members and significant others of persons with severe and persistent mental illness. Space is limited, so please register.
