Concert Benefit Ottawa's Forest Park Playground Equipment Fund
Event to Benefit Ottawa’s Forest Park Playground Equipment Fund
Willie Nelson and the Outlaws, as performed by Branson’s Keith Allynn, will be at the Ottawa Municipal Auditorium, Saturday, March 29, at 7 p.m. The event is being held to complete the funding needs for the Forest Park Playground project and other equipment in Forest Park. Tickets go on sale on January 25, 2014.
Keith Allynn is a versatile entertainer for this one-man musical comedy show, with country flair. Mr. Allynn will showcase Willie Nelson and other “Outlaws” during the 90 minute performance. The audience will sing along to Willie, Waylon, Marty Robins, Joe Cocker, Ray Charles, Jimmy Buffet, Roger Miller, Elvis and more. “I have seen Mr. Allynn perform and am so excited we have been able to get him to come to Ottawa,” said City Manager Richard U. Nienstedt.
The Play Task Force is using this event to complete the fundraising needs for the Forest Park Playground project, and other equipment needs in the park, as part of a two year effort to replace equipment that does not meet safety standards of today. Currently the group is $8,000 short of the fundraising goal of $150,000 for the replacement of the timber playground. This event is hoped to achieve $5,000 of that shortfall, with a major boost from a matching fund through Modern Woodman. “I welcome opportunities like this to do a great event and showcase a cause because Modern Woodmen love to be involved in our communities. Around the country, Modern Woodmen participates in hundreds of Matching Funds projects,” said Dale Pearson, representative.
“It is thrilling to see the project and fundraising all coming together!” said Mayor Sara Caylor. “We have been working hard on all fronts to replace the equipment while building the community relationships, whether through the actual construction day, fundraising, and now this fun event.”
Tickets will be available starting January 25, for $17.50, from the OMA, City Hall, Chamber of Commerce, Arvest Bank and Play Task Force members. Tickets can also be purchased at the box office or calling (785)242-8810, between the hours of 8 a.m.-6 p.m. or online at www.ticketfly.com On March 14, the ticket price will increase to $20, so the Play Task Force encourages the community to buy their tickets early!
