New Pickleball Play With the Grandkids event is Feb. 7 at Matt Ross Community Center
Share your love of pickleball with your grandkids during a new program being planned by the 50 Plus Department of the Johnson County Park & Recreation District.
Pickleball Play with the Grandkids is the name of this intergenerational program, which is recommended for grandkids ages eight and up, and will take place on a non-school day. No formal instruction is planned, but grandparents can take advantage of this special court time to teach the game to their grandkids. Extra paddles will be on hand for use during this event.
To find this program in the JCPRD’s Activities catalog and online listings, browse first under 50 plus and then under sports. In the catalog and when using the website’s advanced search, look for the keyword “pickleball.”
Participants can drop in and stay as long as they like between 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 7, at the Matt Ross Community Center, 8101 Marty, Overland Park. The cost for this four-hour event is $2 for adults and $1 for children.
Pickleball is a cross between tennis, badminton, and table tennis played on a court with two players per side who use a wiffleball and paddles.
The JCPRD’s Activities catalog, with information and a registration form, is available for pickup at all Johnson County Library branches. For more information or to register, call (913) 831-3359. To register online and for updated program listings, visit the District’s website at www.jcprd.com.
