On Sunday, February 2, at 3:00 p.m., Jan Kraybill presents the free Super Bowl Sunday Recital XV at the Community of Christ Auditorium organ, 1001 W. Walnut Street Independence, Missouri.

Jan Kraybill’s Super Bowl Sunday Recital XV includes music illustrating determination and triumph: from organ classics to a nod to this week’s other significant sporting event, the Winter Olympics, opening Feb. 7 in Sochi, Russia.

Patrick Neas of the Kansas City Star praised a past Super Bowl Sunday Recital: “The auditorium’s mighty organ could…make the big game seem anticlimactic.” Adrianne DeWeese of the Independence Examiner wrote: “Even those who are less drawn to the pipe organ will come away from Kraybill’s recitals as fans of the instrument.”

The program includes the opening ceremony music of the Winter Olympics, plus works from Copland, Bach, Brahms, Reger, and more.

Dr. Jan Kraybill is principal organist for the Dome and Spire Organ Foundation, an affiliate organization of Community of Christ International Headquarters, and conservator of the Julia Irene Kauffman Casavant organ at the Kauffman Center for the Performing Arts in Kansas City.
