Park University’s International Center for Music Presents Acclaimed Spanish Pianist Luis Fernando Pérez
Parkville, Mo. — Jan. 6, 2014 — Park University’s International Center for Music has rescheduled the concert featuring acclaimed Spanish pianist Luis Fernando Pérez for Saturday, Jan. 18, at 7:30 p.m. in Graham Tyler Memorial Chapel on the University’s Parkville Campus.
Pérez will make his Kansas City area debut with a rare performance of the complete “Iberia Suite” by Isaac Albéniz. Born in Madrid, this former student of Pierre-Laurent Aimard and Alicia de Larrocha is a leading European virtuoso whose recordings of Albéniz, Frédéric Chopin and Enrique Granados have garnered international recognition. Gramophone magazine recently declared Pérez “among the most individual and gifted pianists of today’s generation.”
Tickets for the concert are — general admission: $15 in advance, $20 at the door; senior citizens age 60 and older: $10; students with a valid student ID: $5; Park University students, faculty, staff and their children age 12 and under: free. To purchase tickets in advance, visit www.park.edu/icm.
The ICM’s 2013-14 concert season will continue on Saturday, Feb. 1, with British cellist Colin Carr at 7:30 p.m. in Graham Tyler Memorial Chapel. Carr is scheduled to present an intimate evening performing the solo Cello Suites No. 3, 4 and 5 by Johann Sebastian Bach.
