Announcement of Nelson Mandela Memorial Celebrations

The community of South Africans in Kansas City is pleased to announce a program and a religious service to commemorate, honor and celebrate the life and contributions of President Mandela.

1.Celebration Program - On Saturday December 14 at 11:00am the Kansas City Missouri Public Library Plaza Branch at 4801 Main St. will offer a program in the Truman Forum Auditorium on the life of President Mandela and the meaning of that life for us.

2.Memorial Service - On Monday December 16, South Africa’s Day of Reconciliation public holiday, at 6:30pm Grace and Holy Trinity Episcopal Cathedral at 13th and Broadway will hold a memorial service celebrating and honoring President Mandela and his contributions to all of humanity.

Both events will include remarks on President Mandela by KU Professor Emeritus Surendra Bhana and the South African National Anthem sung by the Kansas City Boys Choir and Kansas City Girls Choir.
