R.U.B.I.E.S Inc. Hosts 3rd Annual Unwrap a Gift Holiday Extravaganza to Benefit Area Youth this Holiday Season

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – R.U.B.I.E.S., Inc. is distributing new toys, winter hat and glove sets, and monetary donations for area youth in support of our 3rd Annual Unwrap A Gift Holiday Extravaganza, December 14, 2013 hosted at the Southeast Community Center. Volunteers will be busy wrapping gifts in preparation for this event Monday-Thursday of this week at the Urban League.

Unwrap A Gift is an opportunity for R.U.B.I.E.S., Inc. girls to give back to the youth in our community. Unwrap a Gift is not your ordinary toy drive and giveaway; it is the display of hope, philanthropy and inspiration in an economically disadvantaged community. The event provides a platform for our community, businesses, organizations, churches, and volunteers to come together with one purpose - to serve the youth and families in our community. The day will include many fun-filled and family oriented activities, along with some special guests! There will be free entertainment, gifts and activities for the ENTIRE family! This year we will showcase The KC Falcons Marching Band, G-Steppers Dance Team, Hogan Preparatory Academy Choir, and The City in Motion Belly and Gypsy Dancers. There will even be activities and events for the parents sponsored by the Black Healthcare Coalition.

Now in its third year, the Unwrap a Gift Holiday Extravaganza has a rich history of bringing joy to many of Kansas City’s youth and families. Last year, over 700 volunteer hours were spent before and during the Toy Drive to distribute toys to approximately 200 families, touching almost 500 lives in the region. This year we are expecting to provide over 300 families with holiday cheer, gifts and warmth items. The event is FREE and open to the community.
