School Day Out Art Fun program offered on Jan. 2 & 3
Helping parents provide fun and engaging ways to occupy their student's mind and hands on two no school days at the beginning of the new year is the aim of a program being offered by the Johnson County Park & Recreation District.
The program is called School Day Out Art Fun and is for ages five through 12. Single-day sessions are planned on Thursday, Jan. 2, and Friday, Jan. 3. On these days, the Roeland Park Community Center will host fun activities in a safe, supervised environment. Participants will even get to swim at the dome-covered Roeland Park Aquatic Center across the parking lot in the afternoon.
Each School Day Out Art Fun will take place at the Roeland Park Community Center, 4850 Rosewood Dr., Roeland Park. Sessions begin at 9 a.m. and run through 5 p.m., although for the benefit of working parents, additional supervision will be provided from 8 to 9 a.m. and from 5 to 5:30 p.m.
Be sure to bring a water bottle and sack lunch daily, as well as a swimsuit and towel for each session. To find this program in the JCPRD’s Activities catalog and online listings, browse first under youth and then under childcare. In the catalog and when using the website’s advanced search, look for the keyword “childcare.”
The cost for each single-day session is $31 per child for Johnson County residents or $35 per child for nonresidents.
The JCPRD’s Activities catalog, with information and a registration form, is available for pickup at all Johnson County Library branches. For more information or to register, call (913) 831-3359. To register online and for updated program listings, see the District’s website at www.jcprd.com.
