KANSAS CITY HOLIDAY TRADITION CONTINUES DEC. 4-6 2013 Kappa Homes Tour Begins Wednesday
KANSAS CITY, Mo. (Dec. 2, 2013) – From Wednesday, Dec. 4 to Friday, Dec. 6, 2013, four exceptional homes will be on display, beautifully decorated for the holidays by local floral designers Craig Sole Designs, Fiddly Fig, Santee Floral Designs and Trapp & Company.
Presented by the Greater Kansas City Alumnae Association of Kappa Kappa Gamma. the Kappa Homes Tour is celebrating its 62nd-consecutive year supporting the community. This year, the Tour will be open an additional day, including a Friday, in order to maximize proceeds for the 2013 Tour beneficiaries – the Children’s Center for the Visually Impaired (CCVI), the Metropolitan Organization to Counter Sexual Assault (MOCSA) and the Kappa Kappa Gamma Foundation.
Gift & Gourmet Shop Capitol Federal, in its 10th year supporting the tour, will sponsor the Gift & Gourmet Shop at Homestead Country Club, which has extended hours from the Tour and is open to the public. The Shop will again offer numerous vendors selling holiday gifts, jewelry, home goods and homemade treats. For the first time, it will also feature live and artificial greens and other holiday décor items from Suburban Lawn and Garden and a Girls’ Night Out event from 6-9 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 5.
Preview Luncheon Teresa Walsh (co-founder) and Kelsey Perry (co-president) of Silpada Designs will present the 2013 Preview Luncheon by offering a $10,000 matching gift challenge for individual donations. The Preview Luncheon will be held Wednesday, Dec. 4 at Indian Hills Country Club and will feature former Kansas City resident Karolyn “Zuzu” Grimes of “It’s a Wonderful Life” fame. As announced recently on ABC Nightly News and NBC’s Today Show, Karolyn will be featured as an angel in the upcoming sequel to the classic film.
Preview Luncheon tickets also include a Tour ticket, allowing access to the featured homes immediately following the Luncheon and before the Tour is open to the general public. Only a few seats remain for this heartwarming celebration of a classic. Individual and group tickets may be purchased at kappahomestour.com/preview-luncheon.
Kickoff Party On Nov. 8, 140 supporters celebrated the commencement of the Tour and raised more than $14,000 for the 2013 beneficiaries at a Kickoff Party held at the Roth Concepts Showroom and Culinary Center in Lenexa, Kan.
The evening featured live culinary demonstrations with Chef Brad from Urban Table and emceed by Abby Eden from Fox4 News, a silent auction, music and ample food and beverages. The silent auction, which raised more than $4,000 alone, included unique gifts and experiences, such as a signed Boston Celtics basketball and a six-night stay in Crested Butte, Colo. The event was underwritten by Ferguson Bath, Kitchen & Lighting Gallery, in partnership with Roth, whose showroom and culinary center served as the venue.
Additional Tour sponsors include AT&T, the Mos Family Foundation, FORWARD Design | Architecture, Jennifer Bertrand Design, and the VML Foundation. Promotional consideration has also been provided by SPACES magazine.
Advance Tour tickets are available to purchase online at kappahomestour.com and at various retail outlets in the Kansas City area for $20 each. Tickets also may be purchased during the Tour at each of the homes or the Gift & Gourmet Shop for $25 each.
