De Soto Arts Council receives Grant to enhance community with new Arts Center

The De Soto Arts Council will be unveiling to the public its new “Arts Center” for the city of De Soto and its surrounding communities on Saturday, December 7th, from 2pm to 8pm. The event will be held in conjunction with the “Light Up De Soto” Christmas Tree Lighting. The Arts Center is located in De Soto’s City Hall, at 32905 West 84th Street, north entrance, lower level.

The Arts Center was made possible by many volunteer hours by the De Soto Arts Council, The City of De Soto and the “Creative Arts Industry Incentive Grant Award” that was received from the Kansas Department of Commerce, Creative Arts Industries Commission. Rennovation began in January and was managed by De Soto Arts Council volunteer Dick Stine.

The De Soto Arts Council Arts Center looks forward to being a venue for the many local artists who live here to display and perform in the various arts, with quarterly Arts Exhibits. Classes and Workshops will also be offered beginning in January 2014. Visit our web site at www.desotoartsks.org for more information about being part of the De Soto Arts Council, to sign-up for classes, or if you are interested in teaching.
