Altrusa supports Pro Deo with food drive

November is the time of year that we celebrate Thanksgiving and an enhanced desire to help others. Members of the newly forming Altrusa Club in Lee's Summit chose to reach out to the new teen center by initiating a food drive to benefit the center. While Altrusa is a new service organization being formed in Lee's Summit with a special emphasis on literacy, the group also addresses other community needs. A core group has formed of dedicated individuals who selected this center as the beneficiary of this month's service project.

Organized in 1917, Altrusa is an association whose purpose is to promote better communities through service by an international network of people with diverse backgrounds and experiences. Altrusa global priorities include literacy, AIDs, and the environment, although each club develops its own unique community initiatives as well. It is all about community betterment through leadership, partnership, and service.

Altrusa can offer you the opportunity to make a difference in your community and become a charter member of a dynamic service organization. It extends the opportunity to serve with like minded women and men and broaden your knowledge through speakers, workshops, and confereces. It presents multiple opportunities to develop leadership skills in a supportive environment as well as developing business and personal networks. It is a great way to learn about and serve your community while having fun.
