The Holiday Ham Company Celebrates 25th Anniversary
(Overland Park, Kan.) This holiday season is the 25th anniversary of the founding of the locally owned and operated Holiday Ham Company. Owner Jim Maliowski founded the store in 1988, as an alternative to national chains, box stores and grocery stores to offer customers a superior product. The store sells spiral sliced hams as well as smoked turkey breasts. The store has been honored with national recognition by several magazines as the best spiral spliced ham in the nation. Real Simple, Ladies Home Journal, Cuisine and Good Housekeeping magazines have all crowned Holiday Ham as one of the best according to taste tests. Maliowski is thrilled with the recognition, but not surprised. “We are most proud of succeeding as a small business owner through some of the most challenging economic times. Entrepreneurship is the foundation of our economy and we’re a clear example of those principles in action,” Malinowski said. He adds it reminds the consumer with his product, to buy local means you’re getting the best! The company sells their product at their Overland Park location as well as a seasonal kiosk in Metro North Mall. They ship nationwide and have developed a corporate customer base coast to coast. Malinoski says companies choose Holiday Ham for employee and client gifts because of the superior product as well as the superior delivery service. “The ham we developed has a lower salt content than other hams and we’ve always thought the hickory smoke made more difference than added salt. And of course the sweet crunchy glaze is what most people fall in love with,” said Malinowski.
