SHOAL CREEK LIVING HISTORY MUSEUM THE SETTING FOR INDIE FILM

Short Film “Rise Again” Employs Civil War Reenactors

Kansas City, Mo. – Local filmmaker Kenneth Harrison has gained permission to shoot a scene from his short film, “Rise Again” at the Shoal Creek Living History Museum the evening of Saturday, October 12.

The 19th century village at 7000 Northeast Barry Road in Kansas City, Mo., will provide the backdrop for a Civil War firing squad scene. Elliott’s Scouts Civil War re-enactment group will contribute the period soldiers, horses, and arms.

“Rise Again” is a story about a vampire named Mercy, as she battles the forces of evil through the ages. Principle production starts October 12t and uses various locations in the Kansas City, Mo., area.

“Rise Again” is inspired by the supernatural themes of German Expressionism and the work of experimental filmmaker Kenneth Anger and others,” said Harrison, “If I were to describe this film, I would call it a period poetic horror documentary. I really wanted to create something outside the box.”

Harrison is a veteran of Operation Iraqi Freedom and Operation Enduring Freedom in Afghanistan. He is currently a senior at The Art Institutes International – Kansas City, completing his B.A. in digital filmmaking.
