First Annual Walk Like MADD Raises Over $5,000 - Scheduled for Saturday, October 5th

Olathe, Kansas – Walk Like MADD, the signature event of Mothers Against Drunk Drivers (MADD), is Saturday, October 5th at Heritage Park in Olathe, Kansas. The 5k walk event is the first in the state of Kansas. Nationally, the walk raises funds and saves lives. "With this being the first annual Walk Like MADD in Kansas, we couldn't be prouder," stated 5K committee chairman and board member, Paige Ashley. "We are so pleased to have raised over $5,000 and to have 100 walkers registered."

Walk Like MADD in Olathe will open registration on Saturday 7:30am and the walk begins at 9am. Whether or not you have registered, MADD Kansas board members encourage you to attend.

According to information supplied by MADD, drunk driving is the nation's most frequently committed violent crime. In 2011, 108 people in Kansas were killed by drunk drivers. Nationally, MADD serves more than 50,000 victim/survivors and money raised through the Walk Like MADD helps provide victim support services at no cost to the victim/survivors.

MADD Kansas would like to thank Coventry Health Care for being the primary supporter of the 2013 Walk Like MADD Olathe event.
