FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: HONOR FLIGHT NETWORK OF KANSAS CITY TO HOLD FUNDRAISING GALA

Kansas City, Missouri, September 30, 2013 – The Honor Flight Network of Kansas City will hold their “Come Fly With Us” first annual fundraising gala at the TWA Museum on October 12, 2013. This year Susan Hiland from Fox 4 News will host the event which will include an evening of dinner, music and a silent auction. Honor Flight Network™ is a non-profit organization created solely to thank and honor America’s veterans for their sacrifices. All funds raised are used to transport America’s veterans to Washington, D.C. to visit those memorials dedicated to honor their service and sacrifice. “Top priority is given to America’s most senior heroes – survivors of World War II and any veteran with a life-limiting illness” says Scott Sheridan, Board member and recently retired veteran. “Veterans fly free and are able to visit Arlington Cemetery, the WWII memorial, and other important memorials with fellow veterans.”
According to the Department of Veterans Affairs, an estimated 640 WWII veterans pass away each day. Sheridan says, “Our time to express our thanks to these men and women is running out. Honor Flight Network™ is our way of paying a small tribute to those who have given so much to our country.” Tickets for the fundraising gala are $50 per person or $85 per couple and may be purchased online at www.honorflightkc.org, or for more information call 816-468-8282.

Honor Flight Network of Kansas City is a regional Hub of Honor Flight Network™, and was established by five senior-serving organizations to celebrate veterans in the Kansas City metro area. A team of dedicated volunteers work diligently to secure financial contributions from individuals, businesses, and foundations to cover travel costs for local veterans. Donations to Honor Flight Network of Kansas City may be made online at www.honorflightkc.org.
