Kansas City celebrates a ‘Day of Dignity’

Kansas City, Missouri, 28 September, 2013

“All labor that uplifts humanity has dignity and importance and should be undertaken with painstaking excellence.” Although these words were spoken over 40 years ago by the Reverend Dr Martin Luther King Jr., they still ring true today.

This coming Saturday, Islamic Relief USA and the Al Inshirah Islamic Center of Greater Kansas City along with The City of Kansas City Aim4Peace Program will host/sponsor the first ever ‘Day of Dignity’ on September 28, 2013 from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm at Al Inshirah Islamic Center located at 3664 Troost Ave., Kansas City, Missouri 64109. The Day of Dignity is a community outreach event focused on building a model community life and establishing the bonds that tie our community together. According to community coordinator Shahidah Hazziez: “On this is the day of giving we will bring our inner-city communities together and let them know that these organizations participating care and recognize their needs.” This event will provide much needed resources for participants including; hot meals, haircuts, groceries, winter clothing, health screenings, employment resources, and much more. The Day of Dignity will also feature live performances by Aasim Sujud, The Reminders, “Lil Niqo”, Zaimah, Erica Danae, Aanysa, and a special appearance by the 2013 Hijab Contest Winner Yasmeen Sabir. Come be a part of the solution; support this noble effort by giving back to our great community. For more information, visit: www.alinshirah.com/dayofdignity.
