Unique Boutiques Day Trip on Nov. 21 offers north of the river shopping experience

Get a jump on holiday shopping during a day trip to interesting store north of the river during a day trip being planned in late November by the 50 Plus Department of the Johnson County Park & Recreation District.

Unique Boutiques is the name of this trip, which will take place on Nov. 21, and give travelers an opportunity to shop for handmade crafts, antiques, and treasured gifts. Participants will visit Briarcliff Village and browse the exclusive stores in this Tuscan-inspired setting. Lunch will take place at the shopping area's Italian restaurant, Trezo Mare. The group will then head over to Parkville and explore shops such as Christmas on Main Street, Finders Keepers, and La Botega Vintage Market.

The Unique Boutiques trip will leave from Antioch Park, 6501 Antioch, Merriam, at 9 a.m. on Thursday, Nov. 21, and return about 5 p.m. that day. The cost for this eight-hour trip, including transportation, tours, and a private luncheon, is $49 per person. To register for this program, call (913) 236-1246.

While the JCPRD’s 50 Plus programs are primarily for people who are age 50 or older, interested parties who have not yet reached that magic age may still be able to attend. Persons 18 and older who are interested in a 50 Plus class are invited to call the District’s Registration Department at (913) 831-3359, and if space is available without forfeiting the place of a person over 50, their registration can be taken.

The JCPRD Activities catalog, with information and a registration form, is available for pickup at all Johnson County Library branches. For updated program listings, visit the district’s website at www.jcprd.com.
