Kansas Land Trust's disc golf fundraiser aims to conserve prized lands

The Kansas Land Trust, a non-profit organization that has conserved over 22,000 acres of ecologically important Kansas lands, announces its second Disc Golf fundraiser, scheduled for Saturday, October 12, 2013, at the Thornfield Disc Golf course in Stilwell, KS.

All proceeds from this tournament will be directed towards saving pristine native prairie, ranchland, and farmland in Kansas.

The tournament is sponsored in part by Stinson Morrison Hecker and Suburban Lawn & Garden, both of Kansas City. In addition to participating in a fun-filled round of disc golf, players will enjoy prizes, giveaways and BBQ lunch provided by Oklahoma Joe’s of Kansas City.. A contribution of $50 per player is requested. Individuals are welcome to register by contacting carol@klt.org.

Groups and businesses are also invited to field or sponsor a team by emailing carol@klt.org .

Thornfield Disc Golf Course, designed by renowned Kansas disc golf professionals, is the only private course of its kind in the Kansas City area. The course is located on land owned by Kansas Land Trust members Bill and Bo Stueck, and is permanently protected by a conservation easement held by KLT. In addition to the wooded disc golf course which borders the Blue River, the scenic 114-acre parcel is a favored place for waterfowl, and is home to numerous heron rookeries.

More information is available by contacting KLT Executive Director Ginny Moore at 785-749-3297.
