Prison Mentorship Conference to Be Held in October

PRISON MENTORSHIP CONFERENCE TO BE HELD ON OCTOBER 12TH Mentorship Program Key to Successful Reintegration, Event Open to Public

The Kansas Department of Corrections' Mentoring 4 Success Conference will be held at the Overland Park Church of Christ at 119th and Pflumm on October 12th, 2013, from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.

This conference is for anyone involved or interested in prison reentry mentorship, even if it is just something that sparks curiosity. This all-day event will include a “nuts and bolts” session on mentoring from a mentor’s perspective, a KDOC panel discussion, exhibit booths, and presentations by Governor Sam Brownback and Secretary of Corrections Ray Roberts. It is a valuable opportunity to learn more about mentoring, to share experiences, and to get acquainted with like minds.

Mentoring 4 Success is a statewide initiative that delivers mentoring services to help offenders safely and successfully reintegrate into their communities and become productive members of society. This community-based effort is led by experienced service organizations who guide mentors and work closely with the KDOC to match eligible offenders with their mentors.

Reservations are strongly encouraged to get an accurate count on supplies; each RSVP includes a box lunch. Please register at, by emailing, or by calling 913-208-6959.
