2nd Annual Books & Brews: A Literacy Crawl
Kansas City, KS- Mark your calendars for Reach Out and Read Kansas City’s second annual Books & Brews: A Literacy Crawl on September 27, 2013. Books and Brews will be held at the Kansas City Public library, Central Branch, from 5 to 8 p.m. Attendees will be able to enjoy food and alcoholic beverages as they “crawl” through various Kansas City neighborhood themed stations all in one location. Tickets are $25 per person, and include food, two drink tickets, free parking and a raffle ticket. All proceeds will go to Reach Out and Read Kansas City as they continue to fight for children’s literacy.
Books & Brews promises to be a great event. Food will be provided by local restaurants, cafes and bars from a few of Kansas City’s favorite entertainment districts. Beer, wine and signature cocktails will also be available for guest’s enjoyment. This is not your traditional pub crawl as guests will remain in one location and “crawl” through each neighborhood that has been transformed in the event space. Each attendee must be at least 21-years-old to attend the event. Additional drink and raffle tickets will be available for purchase at the door. Raffle prizes include Kansas City Chiefs tickets, movie passes, a Kindle Fire and many more.
Kansas City Chiefs football star and local celebrity Branden Albert, #76, has already jumped on board to support and attend Books & Brews. Known for making tough tackles and hard hitting blocks on the field, off the field, Albert is a huge supporter of children’s literacy and wants to help the kids of Kansas City who look up to him as a role model. Don’t miss out on your chance to join Albert in all of the fun; get your tickets today! Books & Brews is sure to be a wonderful event that showcases the best of Kansas City while supporting early literacy for the kids that live there.
Founded in 1997, Reach Out and Read Kansas City is part of the national organization Reach Out and Read, which partners with pediatric medical providers to make books available for poverty-stricken children at every well-child visit from the time of birth to the time they enter kindergarten. The organization also trains volunteers to read books aloud to children in the waiting rooms of different clinics and hospitals throughout the city. Reach Out and Read Kansas City is dedicated to making sure all children grow up with access to great books that will help them gain the early literacy skills needed to prosper and thrive.
