Antella Consulting Engineers receives Minority or Woman-Owned Small Business of the Year Award

Kansas City, MO (Sept. 10, 2013): Antella Consulting Engineers, Inc. has received the 2013 Missouri Governor's Minority or Woman-owned Small Business of the Year Award, according to Monica S. Santos, P.E. LEED, AP, founder and president of the firm. Santos accepted the award from Governor Jay Nixon at the 2013 Governor’s Conference on Economic Development, Friday, Sept. 6, 2013, at the Sheraton Hotel in Kansas City.

The award is annually presented to a Missouri minority or women-owned small business that has demonstrated outstanding success by contributions made to communities and the economy, and has excelled in meeting the award criteria of being 51 % owned, operated and controlled by a woman or minority, having fewer than 100 employees, been in operation for 3 years or longer, is a viable and successful business, maintains a rewarding workplace environment, and includes a program of community involvement.

Founded in 2004 by Santos, Antella Consulting Engineers is a certified MBE (Minority Women-owned Business Enterprise) and provides electrical, lighting, mechanical and plumbing design services. A partial listing of clients includes Kansas City Public School District, University of Science and Technology (Rolla), University of Missouri-Columbia, City of Kansas City, MO, Harvesters, Kiewit and Blue Valley School District. Monica Santos received a B.S. in Architectural Engineering from the University of Kansas and is a licensed Professional Engineer in twelve states including Kansas and Missouri. She is a Leadership in Energy & Environmental Design Accredited Professional (LEED™ AP).
