Park University Ranks Seventh-Most Affordable Private University in the Nation
Park University is ranked as the seventh-most affordable private university/college in the nation — and first in the Midwest — for tuition and fees, according to a report announced by U.S. News and World Report today. Park is also the only school west of the Mississippi River ranked in the top 10 on the list.
Park’s total cost for the 2013-14 academic year (tuition and fees) is $10,600, compared to the national average of $30,500. Neither figure includes the price incurred from room and board, books or personal expenses, as well as financial aid packages and scholarships students receive.
In addition, the magazine ranked Park No. 29 in the Midwest for ethnic diversity. The study determined where students were most likely to encounter undergraduates from different racial or ethnic groups, factoring the total proportion of minority students, with the exception of international students, and the overall mix of the student body. The categories calculated were Black or African-American, Hispanic, American Indian, Asian, Pacific Islander, White (non-Hispanic) and multiracial.
“Park is dedicated to providing its students access to quality educational opportunities at an affordable cost,” said Park University President Michael Droge, Ph.D. “Additionally, the diverse culture allows students to broaden their perspective, and prepares them to effectively communicate in the global community.”
The magazine surveyed more than 1,800 colleges and universities for its 2013 survey of undergraduate programs. Schools self-reported a myriad of data regarding their academic programs and the makeup of their student body, among other areas, making the data a detailed collection of college facts and figures.
