One night, one hope, one child at a time
KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Spofford is pleased to announce Doug and Janine Nickerson of Leawood as honorary chairs for the 14th Annual Butterfly Gala & Auction to be held on Saturday, October 19th at the DoubleTree Hotel in Overland Park. The reception and silent auction will begin at 6 p.m., with dinner at 7:30 p.m. followed by the live auction.
“It is an honor to join Spofford for this event,” said Janine Nickerson. “The Gala is an important night that allows Spofford to raise the funds needed to continue providing care to some of Kansas City’s most vulnerable children.”
The Nickersons join co-chairs Paty and Dede Daves, as well as Spofford and the Gala planning committee in creating a successful evening filled with fun and purpose. The goal of this year’s Gala is to show how just one night can help bring hope to each child Spofford helps.
“Doug and Janine Nickerson are leading a great committee this year,” said Allen Unklesbay, Spofford President and CEO. “I think their hard work will lead to a big return for the children we serve. It will truly be an evening of celebration.”
The Butterfly Gala and Auction is Spofford’s largest annual fundraising effort. The Gala helps fund the services and programs for the children Spofford serves. The theme of the evening’s event, HOPE Takes Flight, comes from Spofford’s logo: the butterfly…a symbol of the growth and transformation that occurs as a child heals and rejoins the community.
