Local Super-Fan Honored this summer in Cooperstown
Ted Baker was inducted into the Sports Travel and Tours (STAT) Baseball Stadium Hall of Fame on July 27, 2013 in Cooperstown, NY during Baseball Induction Weekend.
Baker accomplished the dream of many baseball fans throughout the world - to attend a Big League game in every Major League ballpark. To reward such dedication and great achievement, Sports Travel and Tours, an international sports travel company, based in Hatfield, MA, inducted Ted last July into the STAT Baseball Stadium Hall of Fame. The ceremony took place in the Bullpen Theatre in the National Baseball Hall of Fame in Cooperstown, NY.
Ted was inducted into a very exclusive group. With the current Class of 2013, there are a total of 87 members in the STAT Baseball Stadium Hall of Fame. “We hear from our avid baseball fans all the time that their dream is to see a game in every stadium,” said Jay Smith, President of Sports Travel and Tours. “So, we put this program together twelve years ago to honor those fans, and their dreams. Ted is in the Class of 2013 along with 37 other dedicated fans.”
Ted, who current resides in Overland Park, KS, grew up watching the Game of the Week on a black and white TV with his father in the 1950’s. During the 1960’s when Ted’s family moved to Seattle, he discovered listening to baseball games on the radio, and attended his first game in 1963 at Connie Mack Stadium. Since then, Ted has been a Kansas City Royals fan. One of Ted’s most memorable moments on one of his trips was sitting in AT&T Park and watching sail boats in the San Francisco harbor.
