10th Annual Arts & Eats Festival & 6th Annual Battle of the Brisket scheduled for Friday evening, Sept. 13 & Saturday, Sept. 14, 2013, in Mission, KS

Mission, KAN (Aug. 28, 2013): It will be a battle royal Friday evening, Sept. 13, 2013, around the Sylvester Powell, Jr. Community Center, 6200 Martway in Mission, KS, when more than 50 BBQ teams compete for top honors at the 6th Annual Battle of the Brisket BBQ Contest, according to Suzie Gibbs, Mission CVB Chair. BBQ prizes will be awarded Saturday, Sept. 14, 2013 at 3:15 pm in six categories and also to Grand Champion and Reserve Grand Champion teams.

The 10th Annual Arts & Eats Festival will be happening in conjunction with the BBQ contest. New this year is the Arts & Eats Benefit Draw, a live event during which artists of all ages will have one hour to create an original work of art in full view of an audience. The finished works of art and other items will be placed in a silent auction and money raised will help to fund the Mission CVB.

The BBQ contest & arts festival include a fun-filled two day event that provides a wide variety of activities and entertainment for the entire family: original arts and crafts vendors, delicious food, pancake breakfast Saturday morning, art activities for children and youth and live band performances Friday night-Four Fried Chickens & a Coke and Charlie and The Stingrays.
