Grambling Alumni Kansas Chapter Welcomes the Missouri Classic

The Kansas City Alumni Chapter of Grambling State University prepares to host “The Missouri Classic Weekend”. On September 14, 2013, Arrowhead Stadium will host the 2013 Missouri Classic football game featuring the Grambling State University Tigers and Lincoln University Blue Tigers.

The world renowned Grambling State University Tigers are one of the most successful Historical Black College Universities (HBCU), in the history of NCAA Division I and SWACC conferences. Grambling State University (G.S.U.) under the leadership of Legendary Coach, Eddie Robinson, has launched more than 100 football players into the NFL. The astute list of NFL players, include Kansas City Chief Hall of Fame Inductee and Grambling State Alumni, Buck Buchanan. The late Buck Buchanan is scheduled to be honored during the weekend of events.

After a 41 year absence, the world renowned Grambling State University Tiger Band and Football team returns to Kansas City, the “City of Fountains”. “The weekend promises to be filled with Kansas City history, pride, and hospitality. Our Alumni events are scheduled to show the very best of Kansas City tradition” said Mr. Johnnie Wilson, Grambling Alumni Kansas City Chapter President.

The week of events will began with a pep rally on Sunday, September 8th on 18th & Vine. Followed by “The Official Tiger Tuesday. This event is hosted by Grambling Alumni on September 10th at Rain Executive Lounge 8015 Troost Ave. On Friday, September, 13th Grambling Alumni will host two events: “Two-Stepping on The Vine”: The Grambling Welcoming Reception at the American Jazz Museum at the Negro League Atrium and Patio, and the “Ultimate College Party” for the youth and college students in the Kansas City area, both Grambling, and Lincoln Students held at the College Basketball Experience in Power & Light District.

The Missouri Classic football game starts at 4:30 pm on September 14th with the Official After-Party, hosted by Grambling University Alumni, HBCU, Kappa Alpha Psi and Birthday celebration with Sean Tyler of Hot 103 Jamz and will be held at the historic Firestone building at 20th Grand.
