Sept. 27 is early registration deadline for youth Winter Basketball and Volleyball leagues

Registration materials will be available online beginning Sept. 3 for youth Winter Basketball and Volleyball leagues being offered at the Johnson County Park & Recreation District's Okun Fieldhouse, located within the Mid-America West Sports Complex, 20200 Johnson Drive, Shawnee.

Offered are Winter Basketball Leagues for boys and girls in grades two through eight, as well as Winter Volleyball Leagues for boys and girls in grades three through 12.

Beginning Sept. 3, registration materials for these programs can be found at www.kcusssasports.com. Both programs have an early bird registration deadline on Sept. 27, followed by a final deadline on Oct. 4, and both offer a $50 discount for teams which register prior to the early deadline.

While these basketball and volleyball programs are designed for team registrations, individuals seeking teams may complete an individual recruitment form. Attempts will be made to place individuals on a team, but placement is not guaranteed. Based on team numbers, leagues may be divided into recreational, intermediate, and competitive divisions.

Winter Volleyball involves a ten-game season with games taking place on Saturdays with a few Friday overflow dates. Play will begin Nov. 2 and conclude by Dec. 14.
