Park University Earns High Ranking Among Safest Four-Year Universities in the Nation

Park University is ranked among the safest four-year universities in the United States, according to StateUniversity.com, a directory of U.S. colleges and universities that provides comprehensive information on all institutions of higher learning. Park is ranked No. 35 among all schools in the country and No. 29 among all private universities nationwide. Park is considered the safest school in the Kansas City metropolitan area and No. 3 in Missouri.

Park University Director of Campus Safety Christopher Loos said the ranking is an honor. “This is an accomplishment that can be credited to every student, staff, faculty and alumnus of Park University,” said Loos. “Safety on a college campus is a community effort, drawing its strength from the relationships, communication and trust amongst all Park members.”

StateUniversity.com derived the statistics through a compilation of crime reports submitted by university law enforcement throughout the country. Its scale accounts for severity of crimes as well as the frequency of crimes per campus.

According to Loos, Park’s Department of Campus Safety is dedicated to maintaining this distinction, and plans to make improvements to become the safest school on the list. Loos said to move higher in the rankings next year, Park “must continue to build upon the foundation it has already established as a safe campus by promoting even more campus safety related educational programming, encouraging proactive incident reporting from community members, continuing to take care of one another and showing pride in our institution.”

“The Department of Campus Safety prides itself in being a highly visible, professional and proactive safety resource for Park University,” said Loos. “We will continue to grow and pursue our desire to move to the top of the list.”
