Tallgrass Creek Marks 100% Occupancy; Priority List Sign-ups Increase

OVERLAND PARK, KS (August 26, 2013) -- Tallgrass Creek retirement community this week achieved 100% occupancy. All 226 of its apartment homes are now occupied, bringing total resident occupancy to a record 315 and resulting in increased Priority List sign-ups.

"This is remarkable time for Tallgrass Creek as we experience the growth that will allow even more people to call Tallgrass Creek home," said Executive Director Peter Crane. "Joining our Priority List is the best way people can be assured that they will get the most updated information on apartment home availability."

This occupancy milestone comes as the first phase of Tallgrass Creek's new continuing care neighborhood moves toward a late fall opening. The Assisted living will open in the November time period followed by Memory Care and Post-Acute Rehabilitation Care in the spring of 2014.

The continuing care neighborhood features 104 spacious suites/apartments. Common areas, in-room dining options, screened-in porches and gardens are among the amenities that contribute to a person-centered approach to health and wellness.

The new neighborhood incorporates the integrated health care model developed by Erickson Living, the manager and developer of Tallgrass Creek. Full-time physicians, electronic medical records and training for all employees serving residents in the continuing care neighborhood have resulted in geriatric health care metrics that exceed national averages across the Erickson enterprise.

The project is also a major job creator in Overland Park as more than 100 employees will be hired to serve residents and guests. The positions range from health care professionals (registered nurses and certified nurse’s des) to concierge, programming, maintenance and food service employees.
