AT&T names Kevin Massie director of sales for western Missouri, Kansas

KANSAS CITY, MO., AUG. 16, 2013 — AT&T* Inc. today announced the appointment of Kevin Massie as AT&T director of sales (DOS) for retail operations in western Missouri and Kansas. In this role, Massie leads a team of professionals responsible for AT&T Mobility’s retail sales and customer service in the western portion of AT&T’s Greater Midwest Region. "I am proud to have Kevin leading our sales organization in western Missouri and Kansas," said Nancy Garvey, vice president and general manager for AT&T's wireless operations in the Greater Midwest Region, which includes Kansas, Missouri and southern Illinois. "Kevin has a deep understanding of the wireless industry, and he’s well prepared to provide a tremendous retail experience and solutions for our customers.” With more than 13 years of experience in the telecommunications industry, Massie oversees sales, operations, financial performance and the customer experience for 24 company-owned stores in western Missouri and Kansas. Prior to his current position, Massie served as associate director responsible for leading, directing and managing AT&T’s Retail Leadership Development Program. He also has served as an area retail sales manager, retail store manager and business account executive earlier in his career. Active in a variety of organizations, Massie recently served as a leader with Special Olympics and Junior Achievement. He and his wife Ashlee have five children and will be living in the Kansas City area. "This is an exciting time to be a part of AT&T as the company expands the nation’s fastest and most reliable 4G LTE** network in Missouri and Kansas,” Massie said. “We’re in a great position to offer our customers the broadest portfolio of cutting-edge smartphones and tablets, and great products such as our fast-growing U-verse high-speed Internet, TV and voice product and the new Digital Life home security and automation service.” Planned Investment to Expand Reach of Wireless and Wired Broadband

AT&T has invested nearly $360 million in its Missouri and Kansas wireless and wired networks during the first half of 2013, part of the company’s Project Velocity IP (VIP), a three-year investment plan announced last fall to expand and enhance its broadband networks. As part of Project VIP, AT&T plans to increase the density of its wireless network by deploying more than 10,000 macro sites, more than 1,000 distributed antenna systems, and more than 40,000 small cells nationwide.

Across Missouri and Kansas, AT&T’s 2013 investments have resulted in expansion and enhancement of its 4G LTE network, which provides ultra-fast speeds. AT&T 4G LTE is now available in Cape Girardeau, Columbia, Jefferson City, Kansas City, Kirksville, St. Louis, Sedalia, Springfield and Warrensburg in Missouri, and Kansas City, Lawrence, Manhattan, Topeka and Wichita in Kansas. Nationwide, more than 225 million Americans have access to AT&T 4G LTE service. By year-end 2013, AT&T expects to cover nearly 270 million people and 400 markets with its 4G LTE network.

This continued commitment to network enhancement and expansion has led to outstanding network performance for AT&T customers.

AT&T was named Kansas City’s fastest 4G LTE network in PC Magazine’s 2013 Fastest Mobile Networks 30-market study. AT&T swept the top rankings in all six U.S. regions from coast to coast: Northeast, Southeast, North-Central, South-Central, Northwest and Southwest.*

And AT&T now has the most reliable 4G LTE network. According to independent third-party data, AT&T has the highest success rate for delivering mobile content across nationwide 4G LTE networks.**
