The Freelance Exchange of Kansas City Presents: 2013 Portfolio Showcase
FX Portfolio Showcase connects businesses with local talent
KANSAS CITY, Mo. (August 2, 2013) — It used to be said, “The way of the future is outsourcing.” Well, the future is here now. Times have changed, and The Freelance Exchange (FX) is ready. On Tuesday, August 20th, from 10:30 am – 2 pm, at 28 Event Space (1300 W. 28th St., KC, MO), scores of local advertising and marketing entrepreneurs will display their work at the annual Portfolio Showcase for members of the business community to peruse. Educational seminars kick off the event at 10:30, with portfolio viewings following at noon. Admission is free and includes a light lunch.
Whether ad agencies and corporations need an extra hand or small businesses and nonprofits need to form an entire creative team, FX has the resources to help. Represented will be independent communications professionals specializing in: •graphic design/art direction/illustration •photography/videography •copywriting/editing/proofreading •interactive/Web design/Web programming •PR/marketing/strategy •and more.
The club’s directory provides a searchable database of members and portfolio samples. The Showcase offers decision makers the opportunity to meet some of the best creative talent while viewing their work. The educational seminars offer agencies and businesses the opportunity to learn what each freelance specialty does, what to expect when working with them, and how to find the best one.
“Full-time jobs are no longer the norm; the standard workday is going away; and more people are choosing entrepreneurship,” explains Julie Cortés, Freelance Exchange founder and president. “But while the workforce is increasingly growing independent, businesses still have roles to be filled and projects to be completed. That’s where freelancers can help out. The Freelance Exchange offers an easy and free resource for area agencies and businesses to find the talent they need.”
The Freelance Exchange of Kansas City provides a network of support and a friendly atmosphere for independent advertising and marketing professionals to exchange ideas, continue their education, and grow their businesses. This is the 10th year the organization has put on the annual Portfolio Showcase.
The Freelance Exchange of Kansas City is a not-for-profit community of professional freelancers within advertising and marketing disciplines. The organization began in 2003 and has since grown into the premier resource for independent talent in Kansas City. The Freelance Exchange provides its members an interactive medium in which to network, collaborate, refer business, and learn best practices, all essential to growing its members’ businesses, and the community as a whole.
