Unlikely quartet partner for Kosher ‘Q'
OVERLAND PARK, KS, AUGUST 2, 2013 -- Kansas food writer Yosef Silver of This American Bite and California writer Chris Jones of The Epicurean Pig join forces to compete in Kansas City’s Kosher BBQ Festival on August 18th, 2013. Team is sponsored by kosher sustainable meat company, KOL Foods and hopes to raise funds for Kansas Charity, BoysGrow.
“It was an honor to judge #KCKBBQ last year, but there’s a community spirit shared by foodies that comes alive when you spend an entire night outdoors with good people and a smoker!” said Yosef Silver, food blogger.
Kansas City’s Kosher BBQ Festival is sanctioned by the Kansas City BBQ Society as an official competitor series event and last year’s event attracted 3,000 BBQ enthusiasts. With celebrity judge, Simon Majumdar of the Food Network attending the 2013 event to be a guest judge, event organizer, Mendel Segal anticipates a larger turnout this year.
“This partnership with KOL Foods and BoysGrow gives us the chance to showcase a sustainable lifestyle and the importance of educating youth about a viable food future “said Jones. “We’re able to to raise awareness for BoysGrow and their goal of securing a permanent home for their mentoring program for 12-15 year old inner city boys”.
KOL Foods have kindly agreed to a $300 matching donation for all money donated to BoysGrow via the Epicurean Bite team partnership.
